One more bulkhead could make it a properly watertight cabin.Originally posted by wizbang 13I set them in with a yankee screwdriver that I inherited from my godfather Jesus Muhammod Herreschoff in 1848.It has the original red oak handle.Alas, the rest of it rusted away and was replaced with an impact driver. -
I'm thinking of removable side and rear clears for mine. When it has its new roof. At the moment it has clears across the front and a foot or so back from the back of the cabin. I need to work out where my new cockpit sides will go before I can take things any further though.

Right. Well, that would be very easy to make with foam. All you need to do is make a mould from a few bits of wood and some construction ply. Fasten the foam to the mould and then glass the exposed side. I'd probably use triaxial 600 - 750 for that upper side. Once it's gone off, take the foam off the mould and glass the other side. Glue and glass some fastening points. Done.

I'm also thinking about a new cabin top, maybe with overhang at the front at least. I'm not really in love with the rounded finish she was built with. Looks too much like a locomotive. But maybe that's messing with things too much. The funky windows would stay in any event.

I'm thinking how good a day it is for checking for leaks.

Might be a relatively lazy day aboard today. Main item on the agenda is a coat of unthinned epoxy where I've sanded back joins in the ply on the underside of the deck. Later on (not today) I'll flush those with some filler. If things dry out outside I may do some sanding on the deck, or my topside repairs, which I've decided to go ahead and flush and paint.

Re: Antipodean Boats Connection
Mooring activities today. Just put new mooring line, float line and shackle on. I'll replace the ground chain to block shackle next week. I have to dive to do that one.

It's okay. I won't actually remove the old shackle. So, I just follow the chain to the block, put the new shackle and some seizing wire on, and surface. It's only about 8m deep but always murky, unfortunately. It'd be very easy in clear water.

Re: Antipodean Boats Connection
Maritime have given me an ultimatum.
I must be back on my mooring by the 21st of June or i loose it.
So I've sprung into action.
Shipwright booked for next Thursday for survey.
Crane booked for Friday.
I've told Maritime i'll be on the mooring by Sunday.
Got two 240v pumps, and a gen set.
There's a diesel pump at my disposal too. Not sure how reliable that is.
Boat's got an okay electric bilge pump (and a new motor with a 90amp alternator ), and a decent hand pump if it comes to that.
Wweeeeeeeeeee......!It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.Comment

Good luck with that! I find Maritime very flexible and understanding with their deadlines etc. If you find the boat's not really ready, I'm sure they'll give you more time, especially as you're so obviously doing what you can to comply.
