Came across this Facebook post from 2016.
This was on Saturday. Well what a superb sail today.
NE wind at 10-15 knots. Excellent run up river and many tacks back down on an ebbing tide. I had full rig going up and put one reef in coming down. Top speed 6.3 knots. No complaints with her windward performance.

Two coats of primer on the underside of the cockpit seats. Two coats of gloss, including the inside of the lockers and the side decks will be back on.
    Note to self...buy more epoxy.

I was watching The Drum, and in the background of one of the speakers was a St Ayles skiff I reckon.

Here's how I moved the big rock on the right. It was the upright for a bird table for 20 + years, but we had stopped using it.

I bumped the loose step while moving the rock around, that's why it's loose.

Not much sailng Sunday, Patchy strong winds and downdrafts from heavy cloud. Not much fun. Broken gear and torn sails, but not on my boat.

This thread has had over 11 million views. I wonder if we could get a resin company or someone to sponsor us?

Why do you need the thread to be sponsored as it is free from commercial influence at this time.

Maybe I wasn't being very serious .... Anyway, I think about 10,000,000 of the views might be Gary and he doesn't buy all that much resin or lager.

Went with a mate on his boat for an evening motor to the heads and back last night. Superb early summer evening.

    Sailing on Rawhiti.
Waiheke Island, Patio Bay race 2022. A distance of about 22 nautical miles. Top speed, 9.6 knots, about when this video was taken.

After a fickle winded (forecast) start, 11 am, we managed to get a jump on the fleet and damn near did a horizon job on the pack...but... the wind died completely (not forecast).
So, being the marker for "don't go where they are" the fleet hugged the shore line and the leading boats proceeded to sail over the top of us while the breeze line headed toward us at a snails pace.

Fortunately, when the breeze did finally arrive pressure was good at about 10-12 knots , the angle was tight, which meant a close haul to the SE point before a beat up the Waiheke channel to the finish at Patio Bay.
Ariki, our nemesis, had the windward gauge but they were on a close reach to the point, our paths were converging. They dropped their genoa in favour of the stays'l and jib in expectation of stronger winds funneling down the channel.
That may have been their undoing.
We still had our 1200 square feet of genoa up and took a gamble.

By the time we turned, Ariki had a two hundred meter lead and a tacking battle ensued.
The breeze was actually lighter around the corner, which favoured us, so with every tack, large chunks of Ariki's lead was eroded.
About one hundred meters from the finish we managed to force Ariki into a slow tack and got the jump.

First gaffer over the line, second boat of the fleet. Finished 3.30 pm.

    A good race.
Then BBQ ashore, followed by a 2.5 hour motor back to Auckland, arrived 11 pm.

    A good long day.

Well, good for ye both! Meanwhile I'm up to my elbows in fibreglass dust and goop, itching (literally) to get out on the water!
