Our 4th son got his Ls in January but has very little interest in driving. He has his ebike so is fully independent, rides about 25km to work and school each day, then back. 50km all up. He's done about 3500 since the start of the year. I think he has 2 hours driving so far.

Amazing how a simple comment sets them off.

It’s rained here certainly enough to put me off going to the boat.

Sorry Pete, I didn't realise who the boat belonged to, a very pretty boat too. I'm considering build a cuddy on JIM and it's in my files as an example of a cuddy I like.

There's nothing to apologise for, Peter - it is quite nice to see her pop up every now and then! That pic must have been pretty early on, because she still has the snotter for the sprit boom. The jib used to snag on the forward portion of the boom, so I changed it to a sprit boom with jaws for the mast, and an outhaul. I bought JW's cuddy plans, but about the only things in common are the aft bulkhead, and the roof line.

I built her. My second attempt at boat building, after a CLC stitch and glue kayak. It wasn't a bad effort, but I could do better, faster, knowing what I know now. Ain't it always the way!
I think the fairness of the bottom plank edges, and how the gains (or lack of them) are done at the bow, makes or breaks the look of these lapstrake boats, and that was something I put a lot of time into.

Can you remember how much headroom there was in there Pete, I'm trying to work out a few numbers for JIM.

Thanks Rick, she always got a lot of nice comments at the boat ramp too.
Single handing off the trailer and on the water was easy enough, but any sort of a cross wind made it a complete b'stard to get back on the trailer. SWMBO proved very unseaworthy, and after the boy lost interest in crewing, I didn't want it gathering dust so it was sold.
I'm still trying to decide if I want to build again, what sort of boat that would be, and (the brutally honest bit) how I would use it.

Peter, if you are interested in some pics of how the cabin was built, I can probably dig some up. Classic wooden boatbuilding it ain't, but I could stand on the cabin roof if needed, without bad things happening.

There was really good sitting headroom either side of the centercase at the back, for somebody a lot taller than me (175cm)

PM me an email address, and I'll dig up some pics - I can't remember if I have any with people for scale.
