My take is that if you poke someone with a sharp stick they'll get annoyed, if you smile and shake their hand they will be your friends.

By the way, last time we sailed Pt Stephens to Southport we did 368 miles.

I wonder if you'll see Pixie again. She was in Bundaberg on the 14 th and is heading back down to Sydney.

I trimmed Henry's planks off flush with the transoms yesterday. Next fill the planks lap overhangs, if that makes sense, with thickened epoxy. Maybe a coat of epoxy all over the outside. Then turn it over and start on the inside. Henry's arm is still in a sling, which perversely makes for faster progress, as I can do a half hour on the boat any old time, without having to find time when we are both available. Tried to do some outside work after that, but absolutely floored by hayfever, worst I've had in years.

I made a big sacrifice for a customer and took yesterday afternoon off to do some corporate sailing on the harbour in 3 Beneteau First 40s.
As it turned out it was a perfect afternoon for it: sunny but not hot, 12 knot easterly. 2 races, last in the first and first in the second.

Last year HCL bought Volvo's external IT Services business and took over outsourcing of their internal systems. as part of the external services they inherited a number of clients, one being the Volvo Ocean Race. So when the fleet is in Melbourne around Christmas/New Year and in Auckland in February i will ensure that i am available for future corporate bonding sessions. but knowing my luckI'll probably be in Bangalore or Beijing.

Anyway, back to the desk and the screens today as penance.

None of that either. Had to wait until we got back to the bar at Darling Harbour.
The fleet owners, Eastsail, are averse to lawyers and have a policy of no alcohol in these mock race events. Something to do with insurance, booms, heads, fingers, jib sheets and winches.
