Thanks guys, I'm a bit numb over this. WA is shutting down all compassionate flights from NSW as of midnight tonight. I don't see me getting over there till next year.
I bought a bottle of Glenfiddich and raised a few glasses in memory. He was a good brother.

Very sorry to hear of this Gary, my condolences to you and yours, and especially his family in WA.
I will similarly have a dram and toast his memory.

It's a bugger of a time and I cannot see it improving much. Anne is struggling at the present, thank goodness for the mobile phone and the net. Today's 80 odd means that we are going nowhere any time soon.
Schoolchildren, especially primary schoolchildren in year 5-6 are the big losers here. Eventully there will be a more formal setup than there is at present, but avoiding a 'lost' couple of year groups will be a difficult catch up.

I'll phone you later on if that's OK.

Tomorrow would be fine Jeff. NSW had over 1,000 new cases today.

Did a bit much work in the garden today for my own good, but it always helps if we tackle even a small garden project together.
I found enough suitable marine ply in the shed to build the CB case I've been asked to do. But It'll be a couple of weeks yet, and I want them to measure severeal times as I will not have the boat on site. Not ideal.

It certainly made it more real for me Jeff. It was intensely emotional.

Late to the party, but that's sad news Gary, and even more difficult under the present conditions. Condolences.

Not sure, perhaps you all know this video, but I really enjoyed it. It's called Hands: Shannon Boat Builder and it's an old doco on a lovely builder of the Shannon One design class.

Well, work on the kitchen has progressed so nicely I'm going to treat myself to two days working on the TS16.

So sorry to hear that mate. It was nice chatting a couple of weeks back. My deepest sympathies for you and the family.

And a big hello to the rest of you!

I've been okay. Busy with work. Locked-down. Rebuilding the pool and back deck. I'll try not to be a stranger eh!

Funny, i was only thinking about that doco just this week.
It pops up on the forum from time to time, but its been a while since i've seen it.

It was part of a series of doco's called Hands the national broadcaster in Ireland did on old skills/crafts that were disappearing.

That's close to my old stomping ground.
I learned to sail on Lough Derg, a lake of the river Shannon further south - not those boats.
I fact i'd have been sailing there when that film was shot.

    Thanks for the link.

Spoke to Carol Sibley yesterday, she seems to be going ok given lockdowns etc. and was pleased to see that that Tom had Jim involved in a regatta recently.

We bump into each other in town occasionally. I'm glad she decided not to sell the house.

We’ll have another try at participating in the Queensland CYC Vintage Regatta postponed due to C19 to end of Oct.

In anticipation of stronger winds I’m fastening down floorboards and getting Jim more seaworthy, including the addition of a small jib flying of a removable carbon pole.
Given the right conditions I’m also looking at combining the race with a more extensive Moreton bay cruise.
