You must have sent my your share of good luck. Working in the shed, in thongs of course, slipped and dropped a chisel. Missed my foot by *that* much. I had the presence of mind to freeze, rather than panic and wave my feet all about in the path of the thing.

But apart from the automotive a/c issue, yesterday morning a small unplanned hiatus in life.
I managed to knock a power drill off the bench, onto my foot and put a 1/16" bit into my instep. It then broke off, leaving about 1/2" - 3/4" of bit stuck in a bone. I was wearing thongs of course.
Surgery yesterday, general anaesthetic and all, plan is to be discharged later today with foot in layers of dressing and an ortho sandal thing on my foot... I am not gruntled.
i'll be talking to the Tumlaren owner this arvo.
Sort of the opposite of putting your foot in it ... Sorry to hear it! Hope it heals quickly! Good luck with the boat deliberations!!

I did a little googling and it looks in great condition, sounds like the owner just wanted something with an engine? If it was closer to me I'd be next in line. Maybe it would fit on a J24 trailer... Good luck if you decide to get it

Just had an excellent downpour of rain, which means we don't have to hand water the garden tomorrow.

According to the news parts of Indonesia are in drought directly as a result of hot dry winds from Aus. No rain for 3 months.

PNG highlands were having that sort of problem when we left. It goes bad fast. No reserves, no backup, no alternate food supplies.

Sounds like it's badly needed! We're finally going into winter here with about 35mm in the last week.

Well, the guy who was taking Grantala has pulled out at the last minute. Really helpful, stringing me along. I can't raise the man with the chainsaw on the phone.... but that's what's going to happen. I guess I get to keep the portholes, bronze stanchions, marine ply, about $10k in teak, etc that I was giving him.

Yep. Very sad. No time to mope. I've rung the guy who will cut her up. She'll go down the river next week.

Just looked up the price...it's probably the most expensive scotch I have ever had.

Looks like a perfume bottle, maybe a good alternative to Chanel No 5 next time she needs a present.

Mmm... Well, I'm not a fan of scotch really, but the bottle looks lovely. :-D

I was beginning to be seriously concerned that I would miss a week, but then a guest said yes to coming out for a sail, so we went.
Then a couple of other young crew appeared from the woodwork as they tend to do when they realise you're going to leave without them.

    First snake of summer..
Decided to cruise across our pool cover - a diamond python about 2.1 metres. Beautiful markings.

I heard one this morning in the depths of the wood stack. Ours will likely be a tiger. Like everything it's early this year.

Doing boating stuff, finally got time to put a new foredeck on the International Cadet……….. I suppose I'd better take some pics, I always forget.

A lovely creature! We got our first snake too, a little green tree snake and the dog killed it. He hates snakes and I can't stop him unless I see them first and put them up in a tree.

Recently shed its skin I’d say.

I spoke with the owner last week and it sure sounded like a steal at that price. Not perfect, but solid.
However, with a foot encased in bandages and unable to drive, get foot wet, or generally do much, so I've avoided thinking about the Tum until now, and so have not actually inspected the boat -its on a swing mooring in Lane Cove River and access is by dinghy. I get all the bandages off this afternoon and i should have an all-access foot again. But right now the boatsales ad is listed as "on hold". Probably someone else is ahead of me now. I will call later today/tomorrow.

Very sad. Probably had a schedule to keep, so set off into bad weather. It is unknown if they were wearing life jackets. Jeez I hate that stupid ****. As if it's the wearing of life jackets that is the thing. They shouldn't have worn life jackets, they should have waited for the weather! I'll tell you what else, there's no fucking way that boat capsized. Ignorant bloody reporters just give me the screaming ****s. Just more grist for the compulsory life jacket brigade. How about a compulsory intelligence test?

Great! Something to look forward to but let's hope the boat's still available.
