My anchor line is chain and rope. When I bring it in I feed it down the hawse pipe without any problems.
My take is that if you poke someone with a sharp stick they'll get annoyed, if you smile and shake their hand they will be your friends.

No doubt. Mine will be spooling of a winch drum. The chain hawse is located very close to the drum so that the chain just falls down the hole. Keeping some tension on the rope so it grips the drum, and feeding it down the hawse pipe, while also pressing the up button on the winch control, could be tricky.

Is that a TV thing? I'll only be embarrassed if it's a quote from Red Dwarf.

Well, my daughter edited the story for me and of course did a fantastic job. The photos have been selected and notated and the whole lot put on a CD. Yesterday it got posted to Cruising Helmsman...fingers crossed.

Sheer planks dry fitted. To be glued on tomorrow when Henry is not at school. He can watch and learn even if he can’t really help. I’m thinking that absolute perfect symmetry and conformance with the plans is not entirely necessary.

The little stone building is about 100 years old I think. I'm about to remove its roof, make the walls a bit higher, and connect it to the house with a new roof and some bifold doors. Plus all the other stuff.

Re the Cadet. As I remove the deck it's becoming obvious that she was not built with the best of materials. Knot holes, joined bits, short lengths, broken frames fixed with blocks of wood. And definitely hot animal glue, stinks still when I applied some heat. A bit more rebuilding than I had thought. But the rig and bits, rudder etc, just need a bit of TLC.

So here's some shots of the anchoring and stowage set up. Seems like I can bring the warp up through the hole to the right of the winch. The white cap is just secured by a wing nut below. And stow it either port or starboard in the focsle. There's quite a lot of room under the sails on the port side and the spare CQR on the starboard. The port side has a neat little hawse hole fairlead thing. But I'm not sure I'd have the patience to use that

The yellow thing is the controller. It's on the end of a long curly cord. You take it up on deck to work the winch..

It should be on the site though, the same manufacturer.

Can't see it listed. Before Rick chimes in, maybe it's a discontinued line.

It's listed on Nobles website though, with a breaking strain of 5000kg.

    Less than nylon. Apparently.

Probably not much difference though? I should think stretch would be good to have in anchor rode anyway. Nylon is pretty stretchy - that's why it's preferred for mooring lines.
