Default Hauling a 16.5' Townclass from Brooklyn to Norfolk, CT

    Hi all --

I have a wooden Town Class (16.5') on a trailer, and need someone to haul it from Jamaica Bay in Brooklyn a few hours to NW Connecticut, near Great Barrington Mass.

    Anyone know a guy?

    Obliged,

    Adam

Look up boat haulers/ boat transport.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

It looks like about 140 miles. What's a job like that worth?

I took the OP to mean he/she doesn't own a tow vehicle or have a friend with one ( Else why ask in the first place, eh?). That being the case, a hauler is going to be insured and probably more reliable than some nobody with a truck.

Kevin -- exactly. I need to do a bunch of repair and have a barn to put her in up there. Hate to haul that distance but it's probably the easiest way for me to get the work done. I'd like someone who knows what they're doing to haul the boat, and yes, insurance ideally.

I am not sure what the issue is. If you have a decent sized car, put a hitch on it and you can haul it yourself. This is not a big boat. I haul a similar sized boat with my minivan. Just make sure the trailer and lights are in good shape and you have tools and a spare tire. Your insurance should cover liability for the towed boat.

At Taylor rental here in W. MA you can rent a van with a hitch. Not sure what the issue is, I'm sure you can do that in Queens, too.
