Razor's edge alright but if you can imagine the dinner table repartee it'd be a beauty, quite a Don's Party in fact.
Especially at Xmas with his Western District relations!
Gary, what brand is your 'local' big supermarket? C......... or W.............? Or are you one of the few places to have an independent still? I put 'local' in quotes because it's a relative term for you and us.
Coles Jeff.

Coles have LiquorLand up here. We are getting a new IGA...I would prefer an Aldi's.

I dream of supermarkets occasionally these days. I'm kind of overseeing the building of a couple of new ones in our little town up here-they'll be a big step up from what we have at the moment, but nothing like a Coles or Woolies.
Andersons in Lae would be your local would it?
Rick
No we have a little SVS and a Papindos here in Ramu. Like a country 4 square store, but crowded dirty and less range.
Oh, I didn't realize you were closer to Ramu. I'd like to have gone up there. I could see it from Mt Wilhelm but I never had the time to travel to Ramu. Our project leader and I had a little plan to pick up a vehicle in Madang and drive right through to Tari but, as always seems to happen with projects, we just got too busy towards the end and ran out of time.
By the way, I reckon we have around 15 cartons of books etc. for you. When do you want them? I haven't packed them yet but it won't take a long time to do that.

Damn, the bloody possum's just turned up in our kitchen again! We thought he'd migrated to a cavity above our new eaves - maybe he's just reminding us we haven't left any bananas outside for him lately ......

We are Ramu
Just got word that our Aussie recruit has signed his contract today, so in a day or 3 I'll ask him if he's up for a bit of filling in his container. I've just connected with a little resource centre some of our expat wives and some locals are setting up, which is basically going to operate as a mobile library up and down the valley between Lae and Madang, particularly servicing local schools-so the books will go to them. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ramu-C...01864409924232
OK, I'll take the advice so frequently offered and get packing!

"Guns, Germs and Steel" by Jarrod Diamond IIRC. BTW he has released at least another since but for my taste Dawkins' "The Selfish Gene" says it all. (certainly an opposite of what is superficially implied)

For quite a while there's been a Tasman Seabird called Cherana, a Sydney to Hobart winner, for sale in Brisbane. It's been listed for about $95 000. I see now that it's been sold. I wonder if anyone here knows where it went and how much was paid?
Rick
I had a short read this morning, you're a good story teller Bruce. Keep it coming, definitely not spam.

We used to be Ramu Sugar. Now Ramu Agri because we were acquired by New Britain Palm Oil so now we do sugar, oil palm and beef. And before you say it, no we don't destroy rainforest and orangutan habitat. We abide by a social and environmental standard which seeks to set us apart from evil oil palm.
There sure is a lot of palm oil out there in Sumatra and Malaysia. Lots and lots of it.

Had a fantastic blast up the local dry creek/gully, out through a cane filed, then back along the gully on Sunday-felt great. There's a couple of guys here bringing bikes up from oz soon-should get more riding in then because i don't like to stray too far from home on my own.
