    Question Bleeding

Hi I came across reference to a procedure of "Bleeding Bags" while I was studying for a cargo exam. I can not figure out what they are talking about. at first thought it referred to the old practice of slashing some of the bags of a bulk cargo being loaded to have some looses material between the bags but then I found reference to something that sounded like bringing bags of bulk cargo draining them in to the hold. Anyone have insight?

It's what you start snarling when you've lugged too many of those bleeding bags aboard.

Could they be refering to the oilbags that bleed oil to make a slick for calming the seas in rough weather?

It's a method of bulk cargo handling in which bagged cargo in trucks is 'bled' onto a conveyor which loads it aboard ship. Here's the link: http://www.aegisengg.com/images/Broc...%20Loading.pdf

If I understand it correctly, it's a way to load bulk cargo where there isn't a permanent bulk handling facility.
