Now that is really some thing special, and treasured as well. Hope it finds a good home with a sailor not a museum or (shudder) a retail prop.

What a find! Wish I was going south this year.

I saw that last night along with the wood M scow. Both are nice:

Sold for $1250. Good deal if she's solid.

The photos in the auction are the only good photos of the old wood dyer dink I know to exist in internet land.

I am posting here for reference only because after 90 days they will be gone forever if not put somewhere than ebay.
Please just look and comment, do not redistribute or sell, they belong to the photographer, not me or the forum.

1938 Dyer Dink - (purdy little boat for sale)
Amen purdy-est dink I have ever seen

    beautiful on or off water,
hope it has a future as bright as its brightwork,
hope new owner posts pics from on water.

$1250 is a rather low price for a historic piece like this and makes me think it probably didn't go to a snotty collector who would be afraid to let it near water.

Is that the prototype for the fiberglass Dyer Dhow? Wow, what a beauty!

The "Dink" in case anyone is wondering is in fact the proper name for the boat, not just a description.
The Dink and Dhow are both seperate models and both are still made, although both in fiberglass. I have not seen the lines of any of the above in person but i have a hunch the current dink has a little less rocker aft.

The dink was a round bilge clinker built multipurpose boat, the Dhow is later design, a vee bottom tender and is a substantially different boat.

The dink used to be made in several much larger sizes and was offered with a one cylinder inboard the largest having an optional full f-n-r gearbox, intended to be a main vessel instead of just a tender or racer. More on that in a separate thread I am about to start.

Hello, I'm new to the Forum and I'm also the purchaser of the Dyer Dink above. I'm just a 60 yr old guy in South Carolina who has wanted to own and use a small wooden sailboat boat for a long time. The pictures are pretty accurate- she's in good shape except for a couple of narrow cracks on both sides that run about a foot long, along the grain, in the center of two planks. Any "fix" suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, the boat came without a sail or mast/boom or rigging. Any suggestions on where I might locate period appropriate ones would also be appreciated. Thanks very much, and I look forward to reading this Forum. Carl P in SC
