I don't disagree with you, but let's take it further.

Modern execs are taught that they answer to the stock holder (only). Maybe right, but we need to change this. They move jobs south that require the least skill and least pay. As a result, a dwindling middle class goes to stores that sell cheap imports, further motivating the factory move.

Henry Ford said he could not stay in business if his workers could not affort to buy his cars and he was villified by the other industrial leaders for paying his workers so much. In the philosophy of profit, the other execs won.

Only when corporations understand they have a responsibility to pay a living wage will we see jobs remain in the US.

Now the political question: Do you think they'll do it voluntarily?

The Whirlpool CEO made over 14 million dollars last year. I thought he was supposed to be one of those rich job creators?

It was all of us that were at fault . We all wanted more , and didn't want to pay the price . We all wanted raises , but went out and bought rice grinders . What do you expect ?

"This" means movement of manufacturing jobs away from where people are paid well and toward where they are not. If your job is to turn this and press that as fast as you can, you do not have job security in this economy. Write or wrong, only the strongest protectionist practices would stop it and I wonder what price we pay in that case?

Absolutely correct! The problem is, do you go to Target or Walmart because you want to have more, and thereby put American workers out of a job, or do American workers lose their jobs and wind up going to Target and Walmart to get what they need? We could all solve the American employment problem if we simply refuse to buy anything that's not made in this country, but how many can afford that?
