    Default Chuckanut 16

A slow build of my first SOF.
Dave Gentry's CK15, stretched to 16' to get more room in the cockpit.

Finally all the pieces are cut (though they still need sanding), so I had to put it together and see what it looked like in 3D.

Going to be a sweet little boat

Maybe not, but the view's probably better than the average workshop!

Looks great, please keep the pictures coming.

Thanks, I'll post more pics, as I go along.

Yeah, the view can be distracting

    Particularly during monsoon season..

Nice view and nice boat. How far do you have to drive to find enough water to float the boat? Driving through Arizona on vacation, I was surprised by the number of boats on trailers in peoples' driveways without a drop of water for what seemed a hundred miles.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Thanks.... the heat makes for slow progress, good thing I have something to look at

Closest lakes are an Hour or so from here, Up on the rim near Flagstaff or over towards Prescott. Those are the ones I'm interested in, nice and cool up there. There are bigger lakes down near Phoenix, or west to lake Havasu (where London Bridge is) , then there is Lake Powell on the Utah border, and lake Mead over toward Nevada. Long haul, but people do it.

Frame is done, sanded and sealed. It weighs 27lbs without the floor boards
More pictures when I can get it to a better place for photos

Looks good! Skinning should go very fast - and I daresay there won't be any paint drying issues out in the desert!

Keep sending pics, and hope your holiday went great - Dave

A few years ago I read a stat wherin Maricopa County, Arizona was the municipality with the most boat registrations per capita.Go figure.

This new ship here is fitted according to the reported increase of knowledge among mankind. Namely, she is cumbered end to end with bells and trumpets and clocks and wires. It has been told to me she can call voices out of the air or the waters to con the ship while her crew sleep. But sleep though lightly. It has not yet been told to me that the sea has ceased to be the sea.--Rudyard Kipling
