    Default Galley Pump Installation

pump.jpgCan anyone tell me how a galley pump like this one would be installed? Note that the barrel of the pump remains below the sink, and there is no locking nut that tightens it to the sink itself. I'm trying to re-install a similar one in my boat, but for the life of me I can't figure out how the fool thing was held in place without a locking nut that tightens it to the sink. I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious, and yes, I should have paid attention when I removed it. Many thanks. Ben

looks like fynspray makes the same or similar model with a threaded nut on the bottom. This one seems like it relys on the bedding?? You could just slide a piece of hose over it long enough for 2 hose clamps.

Looks like it might be a Fynspray WS60 and should have a screw hole on each side. But its been a few years since i worked on one so I could be wrong.

Well the photo is a WS60, but mine is something similar, an old Cheoy Lee standard issue. No screw holes anywhere on the unit. Unless there was some kind of fancy compression clip or something that attached to the barrel beneath the sink, it looks like it may rely on the bedding. But that sounds weird, right?

And even then, I'm not sure how you'd snug it up, since there is no threading ...

Just put a bit of hose with clamp underneath to snug it down.

Sorry to be so dense Ian (and Papillon), but can you give me some more detailed instruction? Thanks!

Well, I put a piece of hose on the barrel (the part under the sink), put a washer on the top of the hose (where it would make contact with the underside of the sink) and pushed it up as far as I could. I then secured the hose with a couple of clamps. I think that's what was suggested above. Seems to have worked okay, though it's a tad wobbly and isn't as secure as my other pump that has the securing nut beneath the sink. Anyway, seems to work well enough. Thanks everyone. Ben
