    Default Adirondack guideboat rib drawings

I have converted the Gardner offsets for Grant guideboat ribs and stem to CAD pdf files. These files are available at no charge from me by simply supplying your email address via regular email or a forum private message. The files are not large, but when you get them to a print shop like Staples or Office Max, they will print out full size on 24 x 36-inch paper for a couple of bucks each. I have successfuly glued the drawings to 1/4" plywood and cut out the patterns, and used them for making bending forms, locating seat locations and sheer, and other useful applications. Sheer marks are shown for both 14 and 16 foot boats. A reduced picture of the rib drawing is below.

    Good job.

You might let Hallie Bond, the watercraft curator at the Adirondack Museum know if you have not done so already.

    Mr. Michne,
Wonderful job. I hope to start my guideboat when I retire soon and a copy of your rib plans would be a great jump start.

I'm in. I PMd you. I was actually kind of looking forward to the lofting. I think the plate utilizing the 15'' radius is quite ingenious. But that might have worn off after three or four ribs, so by all means, please send them. I'll loft the stem- unless of course, you have that too. You know, any other little CAD projects you want to send our way... well, do.

Can someone help me with the lofting. I have imported the pdf in Rhino, cleaned up everything for closed curves and don`t know what to o with the lines...

How much are the rips overlapping on the bottom? where do I get the curve for the bottomboard or is that flat? How do I work with the sheer line?
Is there any reference line to measure from? I need to convert the drawing to metric.

Sorry for the dumb questions...I have only worked with (strip)canoe plans so far where the high of the stations was determined by the positiv form or the lines where already sorted vertically and you only had to place them in a fixed distance.

John, I can sent you the 3D file back if you are interested.

John Michne's book will answer those questions - http://www.amazon.com/Building-Adiro.../dp/0971306990

I'd love to have the set. I am going to go ahead and loft the ribs but would rather make them from the CAD. I replied before but cant see that it went thru.
