I think I figured out what it needs.

And since the LPBC was having one..........

Can the original poster please present himself on Deck: If not we'll have to yell out "MAN OVER BOARD" and swing the ship around!

I thought mine had pulled a similar stunt and gone AWOL in Jamaica. As it turns out the Miss's had packed it away for the trip home.

You're darn tootin' Rick! This concurrence must be a first for a pair of LBCs... On your head no less!

I couldn't quite believe it when one of them just flew through the air and landed on my head. The relaxing feeling was almost instantaneous!

Of course it just had to assert Hat Dominance:

When Gary's LBC landed on Sibley's head he just started grinning like a madman:

Greg finally got his LBC under control again!

Only to realise after a while it had abandoned his head and flown down to sit astride the bows of Looe ala Leonardo DeCaprio and Kate Winslet:

Poor thing didn't realise it wasn't quite a sunny afternoon on the North Atlantic.

Well....I would be happy to boast how shocked I was or even how I felt a certain loosening of the exhaust valve south of my equator but no, boasting never crossed my mind as I thought of all the wonderful qualities these caps have garnered over the past couple of years. They have allowed grown men to suddenly peal away years of aging, increased their libido, look into the murky future, read minds across oceans of space, deplete global fish stocks, create master pieces out of common woods. Indeed, manifold are the tales of miracles various all due to the magic of the caps. Despite all of that, and more, they have also been called many things, like friend, buddy, secret weapon, chick magnet and even, I shudder as I write, promiscuous!

And this brings me to the above photo. One may be pardoned for entertaining the notion that the photo represents solid evidence of said promiscuity for it does somewhat resemble a veritable, good ole fashioned ménage à trois. However, I wish to only slightly deflate that ballon of hope and call it simply evidence of the fine discernment these caps are endowed with. For what we have here, ladies and gentlemen, is not the brazen behavior often associated with common harlots and cabinet makers. No! Instead, we bear witness to the caps' discerning eye and how quickly it(they) can identify the easy mark at this most august gathering of fine antipodeans! It almost makes me weep for the other blokes in attendance, whose sterling characters I have never doubted.

I rest my case, yer honour.

    Cheers!

Shock horror, the LPBC infiltrates the 'opposition' and appears steathily in that very fine British magazine ' Classic boat' (feb).

look for a foreign object identifying its location.

including the same photo that appeared in our local boating magazine , Boating NZ.

I was right then JB, I showed those pics to my wife when I got the mag' and she wouldn't believe that I could have picked you out from those photos.........especially having never met you.......I told her to never underestimate the power of the LPBC to recognise another LPBC!!!! (even though I wasn't wearing it at the time it was in the vicinity and it's amazing how its power just "radiates"!!)

Naw, I stumbled over it in a bookshop while I was browsing through Horoscopes for Boaties Monthly and Weather Forecasts That Actually Happened, And How They Got It Wrong quarterly. Strangely enough, both magazines by the same publisher.

I'm surprised you could pick me/ it out Greg. I don't usually do the relatively tidy and dressed in someone elses clean white shirt look.

As soon as I saw the shots I was thinking which one was JB. "Just look for the cap! Just look for the cap!" I kept telling myself. I seem to merember some shots you had taken from the bow, and there you were on the opening spread, caught in CMYK forever. Damn fine show JB! Damn fine!

Has any appeared in our hosts' publication? Maybe Tom Jackson needs one? He's always pictured helming some replica or another.

I had a terror moment a few weeks ago when I realised I'd begun antifouling wearing the LPBC. Fortunately there was no damage .
Last weekend it assisted in some whale whispering..

seemed to work to a point.

I think once the beastie got a bit closer and recognised the polar bar emblem it had second thoughts.

My LPBC is making a new pair of oars for my boat, it's amazing the way it handles a jack plane, the shaving are just flying through the air like shrapnel. I just sit back and watch while sipping a cold one.

Just to show that Iyam eddin' west.......sunrise in the rear view this morning about an hour out of Gilgandra :

A couple of shots along the way:

I got stuck behind this guy for about 3 hrs doing 60kph in a 110 kph area, no passing him either way. Anyone coming the other way had to pull over while he passed.

    One of many tea breaks

And a sunset shot, ( today's trip was Gilgandra NSW to Port Augusta Sth Aust, 6am to about 9pm)

The wooden box, if anyone is wondering, is just a cover of sorts to secure my gear and double as a bed base to role my swag out on.

A mere 3 to 4 hours behind the wheel and I begin to think chewing gravel would be a better way to pass the time. In fact, I don't like driving at all really and only do what little I do out of pure necessity.

Very impressive road trip Greg and glad to know no harm came to you.......perhaps thanks to the magic powers of the LPBC?

    Cheers!

Ah , I see now what Larks has been up to.

Being reduced to tears this morning whilst reading Mr Lemonhands latest missive in his whale of a thread in B and R has reminded me that some adventures of my rather beaten and tired LPBC need to be updated.
Not being risk averse, it found a new friend...

    and a couple of playmates

    ...went a bit nuts

and found some baby chees... er turtles

and , as a bonus activity, did quite a lot of sailing in between

    Entering North Minerva reef.

Road trip! Seeing as we were off to the tropics this weekend( a hundred miles norf of home here in Auckland) I thought that perhaps some music other than the song of the XK might be nice . For those that don't know , 100 miles on NZ roads is like to say 500 on a highway, the nurburgring with opposing traffic.

Thanks to the LPBC and something called blueteeth? ( somethin to do with the logo I think) and the LPBC lanyard borrowed to lash the device to the old stereo knobs.... Voila!

....hat was a bit shy and hid behind the camera case for some reason.

Oh dear, I don't recall whether all these hats were programmed solely for male heads or not. Having been made aware of a number of male LPBC members near-death experiences with their hats( the irrestible chick magnet versions), I am very much relieved to see Mr.Bauer in close proximity of Mrs. Bauer, who clearly has a the female programmed version! Fabulously fetching, is Mrs.Bauer, and this should serve as a caution to all LPBC members. These hats can work their magic on your women folk too! Be careful!!

Missed you at the Speed Show, Alan. LPBC didn't make it there either but it did make it to the air force commemorations at RNZAF base Ohakea. Here it is inspecting a USAF C17 from Hickam AFB,Hawaii.

Probably the best part of the show was the flying display by restored WW2 warbirds. Clockwise from foreground; P51 Mustang, F4U Corsair, P40 Kittyhawk, Grumman Avenger and in the background two Supermarine Spitfires. I love the smell of Avgas in the morning. Thank you Colonel.

Perhaps we should plan to convene a meeting of the LPBC antipodes this summer some time.... make sure they're all correctly maintained and hydrated... stuff like that.

How many have we... 3 in Auckland ?

Correct (that I know of) u , me & Rick. An EBS would be a good thing.

It must be something in the water down there in New Zealand as Robbie 2 in BOI NZ is indeed the latest winner of a genuine LPBC. Haven't heard whether he has recieved it yet, but I am hopeful.

Sharp as nails you folks are!

    Cheers!

Thanks Peter. ps, you made me sand something else extravagantly the other day.. the rot has set in.

My hat hasn't done anything lately and neither have I , we're stuck in Dismalia, a New Zealand Winter. Wet and cold, apart from last sat when I took the boat for a quick motor to test a gudgeon I've been adjusting... but that was 5 days ago .

So nostalgically I have to look back to may and a more interesting time to find evidence of a faded but reasonably well travelled and used hat.

paddleboarding at Makogai in Fiji...inflatable paddleboarding!

that should rark up a few WBF locals..... but to make amends, to dig myself out of a hole so to speak..

    ..

but just around the corner from there, which is where I'd rather be right now

    camo hat...in amongst the artifacts
