Default Poly-Fiber for Skin on frame

I came across it while looking for Dacron polyester, anyone have any experience with it?

Personally I think that any of the aircraft fabrics are too light in my opinion. This is more of a gut feeling than experience though. They are designed for low weight and high strength, but planes don't tend to run into rocks or branches.

Lightest fabric I have used is 6oz on a backpack canoe, its really translucent, plenty light, but still durable (I run into a lot of things). Going to half the weight (3.4oz on that page) would make me nervous. I run 8oz on my regular day boat, and 12oz on my tripping kayak.

You can order skin boat fabric from Dyson, or from Corey Freedman of the skin-boat school.

Way to light for any rough use, or for normal use in my opinion. I have settled on 8 oz polyester on all my boats unless they are going to see really rough use. Then I step up to 12 oz nylon.

Shameless self promotion. I sell it too.
