I found 25 back issues of Woodenboat at a used bookstore old ones, pre 1984, ones I was missing. So now I have almost a complete set.
And they were cheap to boot.

I was a subscriber, back in 1975, or so.
I wish I still had those magazines!
Cool, happened to me once too. I found several boxes in the store, the owner let me have them for about 75c an issue, provided I took them all.
No wish to demean the score at all but just to amplify..........I gave 100 of them plus or minus away for free! And was glad to do it! Happy new owner posts here from time to time! He got those plus another fifty odd woody mags too. And the milk crates they were stored in![]()
Which ones do you need, Bobcat? I'm sure I have what you need. I finally have a complete set and many more. When I get a little time to go through everything, I'll put up a thread offering them to whoever is in need.
You need some milk crates, John?
Thanks Lew!Thanks Emmett!

No, Dan, I'm actually full up on milk crates right now!
I've even got the metal ones (struts around all puffy-chested).
I would like to know how to find one particular article, though, and my sketchy memory hasn't been able to prompt the WB search just right.
I have tried more than once.
The boat was a a (Bristol?) Pilot Cutter that had been restored by a couple (from the US?) and they were cruising around the world racing the thing, here and there... They removed the (non-original) engine, and were sailing her without power. I think the focus of the article was that they re-skinned her in Kauri (?) so it was done in New Zealand, as I recall... Lots of epoxy and Nylon staples...They were amazed that she floated above her lines, after, and she was just as slick as an otter pup.
This would have been 1975/76...maybe '77. I'm pretty sure I had one of maybe ten subscriptions in the state of Mississippi, at the time. I sure wish my life had been a little less chaotic, because I'd have that issue at my fingertips, now.
Search for "Curlew"and "Tim and Pauline Carr" and you get lots of hits. Issue 36 page 86 is what you're after.
Adam
Remember, it's a crime to use a milk crate for anything other than transporting milk.![]()
I am missing no. 198. It never arrived in the mail and apparently there are no back issues. Anyone have a spare?
Alas, long time ago, but now I am in NYC.
You're welcome, Dan!
And I see you are using the booty in the best way...sharing!
Thank you Dan!
(and Lew!)
It's a hoot going through the old back issues. A very different magazine back when it was "The Woodenboat." In one of the issues, there's a cranky letter to the editor cancelling a subscription because there was a spread on Riva speedboats in color! The magazine and the world was going to hell in a handbasket and the letter writer was having none of it
