Had a really nice day at the Show yesterday. Lots of talking and lots of interesting boats. Most interesting was the new Wharram Amatasi 27' eco fishing boat. It has been built with poplar plywood and then glass sheathed. the poplar plywood was very light weight and very low cost. Anyone know more about poplar plywood - which I guess needs sheathing but if you are sheathing anyway, then a light weight core is good.

Thanks for the photos. I was unable to get to Beale Park this year, I had intended to try and go today but near horizontal rain all day I decided not to.

Brian - Do you have any info on the Dutch raid lug yawl?

John - What was this boat, it looks like a replica of a cornish crabbing lugger?

    Thanks

It was a lugger from Cornwall, not sure if it was a replica or an original though.

Sorry, apart from the nice lady in the red fleece is the builders partner!

The Cornish Crabber was the real thing. The people showing her were a restoration group.

Anyone have a picture of the red alloy tube skin on frame electric boat on the water?

Thanks anyway. Maybe Pete Greenfield will mention the crabber in his write-up for Watercraft.

    Hi Nick,

    Did you mean this?
    [IMG][/IMG]

This is the Hanse yawl, one of the boats build by Bert. He runs the Bootbouwschool in Uitgeest. http://www.bootbouwschool.nl/

Thanks for the information. The stern remains me of a 17C shallop.
