    Default 1970 26' Lyman Offshore

Last summer we bought an old Lyman - famous opening words... I did all the things that I had been advised against and bought with my heart and not my head.

So here we are one year later and I have more questions than I have rotten pieces of wood...

We have stripped her down and kept everything - this winter we will begin to restore the removed parts. What I am looking for is someone else to replace/restore the hull and decks - not a boat show restoration but something that will be safe, look good and allow me to build from there. We are in Ipswich MA - anyone know anyone who would be willing to take a look.

    Thanks and in hope

Try the Lyman Boat Owners Association.

Dr. Lyman (Tom Koroknay) may also know of restorers in New England.

If the boat could make it to Ohio, Custom Marine in Sandusky does excellent work and is very experienced with Lymans. Riddle Boatworks in Vermilion is also an excellent shop. Lymans were built in Sandusky Ohio on Lake Erie so there are still a lot of people who work on them in the area. What sort of issues does the boat have, they might be easier to repair than you think. Please share pictures.

That's a promising start. Often its the other way around. Nice boat. Good luck.

I thought the offshore's had a slightly higher windshield than the sleeper. We'd love to see pictures. There are good wooden boat resources in your area.
