    Hmm I remember many years ago, sitting on a riverbank with ratty and mole, having a picnic.
    Watching the Henly on Thames regatta and wondering why, when you're stuck on the M25, 5 days a week, why, oh why, would you endure the same thing on the weekend on a boat?

    But on a quiet day there is nothing my friend, like messing ....

    Twice in the last 15 years, wife and I rowed the Thames river from Cricklaid to where it becomes tidal- in Hampstead I think. It was absolutely lovely and we would stop very frequently to refresh at little pubs along the way.     In the UK there is a home boatbuilders group called the UK-HBBR. They had a "Raid" down the Thames to the Beal Park Boatshow, and this year are having another - leaving after teh show and going downstream. One of the members blogged the first Thames raid here
