Anyone with experience with a Flicka 20 that could comment on sailing characteristics or thoughts? Where they ever built in wood?
Thanks

It's a sad day when you don't learn something.
There's a book by John Vigor with a title something like "Twenty Boats that can take you anywhere" and in the book one of the boats described is the Flicka 20. From the description it is a very well made fiberglass boat that has been known to take a thorough thrashing on a sand bar with no ill effects. Never heard of one built in wood. In the same book the Folkboat is described and many of them have been made in wood. John Vigor's conclusion on the Flicka seemed to be that for the same money one could buy a longer faster boat but then it wouldn't be the Flicka which some people really like the looks of and they like it's reputation of being a tough little, well-made boat. In short, pun intended, it's a great little boat.

I could be wrong about it, but I've also heard they are tremendously comfortable (while going really slowly).

I have heard of a or a few wooden boats, sorry I cannot point you at them.......
I used to sail the 3rd slowest boat in the Caribbean. Only 2 boats were slower than my 21' Antigua Sloop. Those boats were Tahiti Ketch and Flicka 20.
Roy McBride at CKD Boats in South Africa was offering them as wooden kit components.
Ask him? roy@ckdboats.co.za
Any idea if falmouth cutter 22 is a much better sailor than flicka, I am looking to go small, dock fees, launch fees. storage fees I am mostly cruising with wife or alone. I sail a cc29MII now but expensive to moore A trailorable boat would be handy.

Roger what type of boat do you sail?

Driest boat I ever sailed. About mid way in speed between a traditional slow cruiser and a "racer/cruiser" with as good a speed:comfort ratio as I can imagine.
