    Default Hybrid cell/satellite smartphone

Saw reviews for this, a BlackBerry-ish mobile phone that can also connect via satellite, and thought it might be of interest to cruisers, delivery skippers, and the like.

It's not cheap ($800 for the phone, plus a contract and stiff charges (65 cents per minute) for satellite calls. But this phone, or the next generation, might be a good deal for offshore sailing.

That's pretty cool. Small for a satphone.

The ones I've used came in a small briefcase. With weird angular antennas.

Not something I need at the moment, but I thought it might be useful to the genuine seamen.
