Seems to me that one of the outboard motor companies (Mercury?) did just that in print ads back in the sixties. "Smooth enough to plane a kitchen table" or something like that.

Nothing wrong with updating the classics.
I think the newer model has a little more waterline. Same style, though.
The original had a Formica top.
The new has Corian.
Too heavy, slower, as you can see.![]()
