The dedication was superb. Adding to the rolls of the great ships...

A little Googling turned up a local news article about the unveiling.

    Hi Don,

I've just spent a few evenings drooling over your work of art, nothing like the lifetime you've invested. The photos of the boat coming out of the shed brought a tear to my eyes. It's just plain beautiful and the craftsmanship is awe inspiring.

I absolutely love wooden boats and it's too bad that the mountains of Colorado are so hard on them or I'd own one instead of my plastic sloop.

Can't wait to see photos of your boat in the water with the sails up.

I second that request. Would love to see her in the water and under sail.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

May the 20 year build be a drop in the bucket of time for the forever boat!

Don, we need some updates. Pics of her recently? Under sail?

A friend travelled to Vancouver Is recently and visited an old shipwright mate so I asked him to see if there was any news of Don and Tomfi but no result. I think we're all busting to see how it's all going!

I was in Vancouver a couple of months ago but had no time to venture to Richmond. Am in Seattle this weekend, but likely won't be able to venture that far north on this trip either...

I totally get taking a sabbatical from this place, it takes up a lot of time. I'll do it myself soon. I just want to know which Pacific island we're meeting up at. (Put smilefacething in here)

I informed his Don-ness that the natives are getting very restless.
    He said follow me.
    I did.
This is what he showed me.

    328' of 3/8 galvanized double-dipped Maggi chain.

That's all I've got for you.

I posted this somewhere a while ago, taken last summer.
Don said he'd check in sometime soon.

She looks amazing. Knowing the care that went into the details makes her reality even more so.
One of the most enduring qualities of an old wooden boat is the smell it imparts to your clothing.

Got a short email from Don yesterday. He is alive and well, still plugging along towards a spring launch. His progress has been slowed by one of the coldest and wettest winters ever in Vancouver. I think that he has to go to the library for internet access, so his electronic communications have been limited. He said that he will try to update his thread soon.
