    Default Oughtreds Auklet

Searching through the forums I am not able to find any mention of Iain Oughtred's Aucklet. Is it simply too small for any practical use as a tender? Of course the Acorn is mentioned plenty, and from all accounts appears to be a great tender. Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Did you mean "Auklet," "Aucklet," or 'Auk"?

    Here's a fellow-Forumite's 'Auk' --

A gorgeous little eight-footer, this one superbly built.

It was always in my mind to build an 'Auk' as a tender, but....

Auklet, it appears to be a shorter (7'2"), slightly narrower (3'11")version of the Auk. Being that it has a seperate listing on the Woodenboat store, I assumed it was an overal different design. The Auk you've shown is great!

No information on auklet, but I just finished up a humble bee pram. She's about the same length, but with being a pram is a bit wider with more useful space up front. straight forward and fun project. Saul

Thanks Mike. We've had as many as 4 aboard her though she's much more comfortable with 2 or 3. Only one while sailing though.

No thanks necessary at all, Rick. If she weren't both gorgeous and superbly built, do you think I'd be keeping her photos on our website all these years?

I'm in Guatemala at the moment, having sailed down from California and pulled in here with some engine trouble. I will likely stay through the hurricane season now before heading further towards Malta. i have access to a big yard and lots of Honduras mahogany - so going to build a tender and put some new caprails on my old ketch...
