Default ...Naval architects and designers are a waste of money!

I've been looking around for that thread to see what the conclusion was, but can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know whether it was deleted by the admin?

By the OP. I think he got a nasty letter from the owner builders.

There was a photo of the beautiful, stylish boat recently. Tied up at a wharf, not a paying passenger in sight.

I haven't seen any report on performance nor compliance to commercial regs to date. FWIW the laws of libel set out what are admissable terms for a plaint/ statement of claim and I did not see any such breach in law to support a case.

I hate that the thread had to be taken down but I also don't want to see Peter get into trouble.

Well, as a working Naval Architect I had little sympathy for their self inflicted problems. I now have a good reason to to shed what little sympathy that I had in the full expectation that they will not be allowed to take a single paying passenger.

Last I recall hearing, the owners were waiting to see whether she'd pass the Transport Canada stability tests. Does anyone know what happened?

When I did a google search on the boat (the Absolu 80) I found nothing to indicate that she's ever taken out a paying passenger.

By the way, their funny brochure has pictures of an actual boat that is "very similar" to Absolu 80 -- presumably one that they've based their design on. Anyone knows what it is?

Perhaps you might delete your quote of Peters now deleted post?

While the thread may have been deleted by the OP?

I last recall that they were welding on 'pontoons' on each side at the stern.

Did their 'amendments' work and they got it to float?

Does anyone know what happened to the 'boat' in the end?

Postscript: I have searched and managed to find that alledgedly they did get it floated, and did get it running under its own power, and were last waiting to see if the yacht would pass transport canada's seaworthy tests.

Yeah, sometimes things take a little re-engineering before they work. Last seen, the boat was certified and was working.

According to their brochure they are certified for 46 passengers and 3 crew.

Have you got an email address so I can visit the site?

Don't worry. I think this is it.
