Default Searching for Cabin Cruiser to Restore

I am looking for a cabin cruiser built between 1920 and 1941 to restore. She should be between 28' and 38' in length. Will consider all makes including, but not limited to, Elco, Richardson, Matthews, Dawn, etc. If you are aware of any such boats in need of a new caretaker please let me know. I am located on the East Coast of the United States. Any leads will be appreciated.

Go to Boneyard Boats.com,They had a good looking Mathews,38' that was up for adoption. Hopefully it's still there. If not, there are others in need of restoration. Good luck. P.S. We have,in the barn here,a 40's(?) Elco,hull#1 if you might be intrested. I forgot about it after all these years.

Also check out the the Wooden Boat Rescue Foundation. They don't have anything in your time range right now, a '56 Matthews Playboat and a '58 Chris Craft, (and Audie Murphy's double ended motorsailer PETREL) but all sorts of stuff shows up there for free.

Just curious why you stop in 41? You can get some lovely boats that go a lot faster by looking at 50s boats. Maybe you want a displacement boat? There is a really lovely late 40s boat on Lake George on the Chris Craft website. And a 50s boat with the hull already done at www.cwbw.com

There is a beautiful old Matthews that is in the age and size range you are looking for at Jacknife marina in Port Clinton OH. I have been hoping someone would come along and save it for years. It definately needs work but it is still in one piece and doesnt appear to have lost its shape. I believe the contact information is:

    Jacknife Marina
    1350 W Richey Road
    Port Clinton, OH 43452-9451
    Phone: (419) 734-3233

Please let me know if you end up making contact with the guy I would be interested to hear what he has to say about the boat.

    Regards,
    Mike

    take your pick

Buy the best one you can; the money you pay up front will be returned many fold during the process.

Thank you all. I am a subscriber to BYB. It is a great publication. In fact I posted a wanted ad in the last issue.

Skipper68: I am interested in getting some details, and perhaps some photos of your Elco.

I am interested in boats, generally, built between 1920 and 1941 primarily for stylistic reasons, as well as hull type.

I will follow up on all of these leads. Thank you for the help. Keep the leads coming....

Working on some of these leads, and still searching.....Anyone know of a friend or neighbor that might have a 1920 - 1940 cruiser hanging around?
