    Build the rowboat you want.
    Then build a tent.
    Think Everest.

The bivy shelter is a great little place to get out of the wind, rain and sun.

Just occurred to me that something that works like my Afjordsfaering would be just fine. It is longer than most 20' or so and the critical thing is that the bow thwart is removable, giving plenty of room to sleep nose to tail overlapped or side by side with feet aimed at bow. The head stay from the mast ( in the center as it is a square rigger) to the high stem and a tarp or sail goes over it. I must say for solo bunking I am fond of getting hammocked in right up in the stem. Anyway, it rows two nicely and can carry a third who can hang in the space behind the after thwart and do useful stuff like steer. It is a big boat for solo rowing however.

As soon as I touch land the spell is broken, the trance is over, the fine balance betrayed, the samadhi shattered.
No, I'll take the waterbed anyday.
