Default Help locating Plans/Designer for small solo canoe

    Hello all,
My uncle and mother built a couple of these little canoes about 25 years ago- around '94 or so. I would like to make another for myself (Its a great little boat for a quick paddle- super light and paddles beautifully). While I could trace it up, I would rather give credit where it's due and find the designer if I can.

The only trace of the plans I've been able to locate is a "building time" sheet, which seems to say "Canoe and Kayak #1 Paddlesports Resources" at the bottom. I'm pretty sure my uncle bought the plans through an ad in Wooden Boat magazine- one of my cousins remembers "swamp river"or something like that.

She's made from 3 or 4mm ply, only has glass reinforcement on the seams and may be a one-sheet boat (?)

    Does anyone recognize her?

    Thanks for any help!
    Molly

It could be Sweet Dream by Marc Pettingill: https://www.amazon.com/Building-Swee.../dp/1888671033

I don't recognize it. Good luck with your search and your build. Keep us posted.

Sorry, don't recognize the boat. If you strike out in your search, there are other simple canoe designs out there.

One I've considered is Storer's 'Quick Canoe'. A bit faster build than the boat you show, but good performance reviews. Simple build because it's a flat bottom boat, with skegs for directional stability --

He also offers another plan that is more like the hull shape you are looking for, but more time to build - the Eureka Canoe --

Thanks for the replies, all... I'm still looking!

Sweet Dream does look awfully close, though I think my uncle's may pre-date Marc Pettingill's design? The date on the build sheet is '92.

    Flo-mo,
Actually, your "ultimate one-sheet boat" was the one I'd been thinking most resembled it since I first started trying to track it down!

I think I'm going to trace her out and see how she compares to Sweet Dream.
I may use your layout as a basis for recreating this little canoe.

Did you ever build the v-bottomed one-sheet design?

Seems very similar to "Paysons´s Pirogue I have built for my Grandson.
Paddles excellent, very light, easy to build.

Build according to plans in book: "Instant Boatbuilding with Dynamite Payson". 2007 by Harold H. Payson. ISBN 978-0-07-147264-7

I have built Flo-Mo's one sheet Flywood canoe. Light, beautiful and paddles like a dream.
