Wow!
Wow!
:applause:
whoa, camel. WHOA CAMEL!
Thanks guys. Sometimes I look at that boat and don't see a 1974 build. Many do not believe that it's wooden.

I've been sent another couple, what's happening here is we are just easing off for the top mark, which why the jib is cracked off a bit.
This photo is taken by Dean Wright from Arethusa, and Arethusa is a complete subject in her own right. Not to mention of course, the lovely image.
All those photos incidentally, make her look in better condition than she really is, poor Riada was ignored this winter as we changed our lives by moving on out of the smoke.

A ketch spanking along with reefs tucked in. Beautiful.
Not reefs Dave, those are stack packs rolled up on the booms. I couldn't stand the things waving around while sailing so disconnected them from the lazy Jacks a few years ago
Works well.
First race in the classic yacht assn regatta today, I have a crew job on Ngatira.

but the afternoon race on sat was not so good , 4th. Memorable but not the best result.20190302_125306.jpg
Oh, people used to winning ......
Rick
Day 3 and the 4th race. Oh dear...no wind. Sat for 4 hours for a light sw to come in , shortened course back to the club.
Jase and Wairiki alongside Rawhiti pre race.

Well the pics show some times for me, otherwise not.
Ah well.. anyway a third overall in the gaff division, smallest boat at 40 ft against one other 42 footer and 5x 54 plus, we could have won it if only, yadayada
Funny moment of the regatta in flukey light conditions , 100 metres from the finish we got taken aback by a 40 degree wind shift which then went to 90 and weather cocked us around into a 360.
As I announced to the many many people who witnessed it, we did 1 penalty turn in case we'd done something wrong. ........
I'm enjoying it both here and FB.
Photos aren't showing here on Android (whatever or wherever that is ....)
Rick
yeah, I cant beat it.... takes forever to upload them and then they flick off and won't show.
Third! In A class! When the Mahurangi Regatta (first on handicap in gaff B class) wouldn’t let Steve step up a class! Brilliant. And here’s a video of (Ngatira-triumphant) Race 2:

Watch for Ngatira B2.

He should be excited, shouldn't he? But now he's used to being 1st so 3rd, so, you know .....
Rick
And A27 is spectacular, of course! Which boat is that?
Rick
Great video, one of the best I've ever seen.
Roger Mills has been making some wonderful short videos of the classics for a few years now, we've had a few of his , mahurangi and the like. Did you watch the horsey one that my nephew has on Facebook, Gareth, quite magnificent. It's a promo for a riding/trekking company but the shots and scenery of Northland are to die for.
Jase's Wairiki beside Rawhiti. Yes there's a foreground effect on relative size but that is one heck of a rig in Wairiki.

Teal.. I can't remember but 1960's?. She was close to destruction , a rescue hull with a big double window cabin IIRC.
All that removed and she's now an overnighter / classic racer with a giant cockpit and modern rig.

Images working today?
Last edited by John B; 03-05-2019 at 05:43 PM.
No , its just that we were close, and had a couple of things gone our way we would have. But thats yot racing.
regarding the image posting problems, the only thing I can see is that when I post multiple images one after the other using the WB upload method , they just close off and don't show. If I understood why or what I was doing wrong it would make life a bit easier. Anyone have ideas on that?
No but all showing here now - great shots! Thanks for the info too! What a fleet!
