    Default Fastener supplier?

Where can I find the best price on silicon bronze fasteners?

While pricing up what I'll need for my Ocean Pointer, I've realized just how expensive this stuff is. #10 x 1" wood screws for $30 / 100?! And 1/2" carriage bolts for $25 EACH? I'll need hundreds of wood screws, 10 lbs or so of ring nails, some carriage bolts, etc...

So far in my brief internet search, Hamilton's and Jamestown Distributors are the best I can find, but I can't help but wonder if there's a supplier out there that I'm missing.

So, who else should I look at for comparison shopping?

    Thanks!

    Try McFeeley's

There are also a series of other possibilities in this prior thread:

I've used all three, with good results. BTW, $30/100 is probably about as good as you will get these days for quality screws. Metals have gone through the roof recently.

If the boat is going to be stored on a trailer and not copper bottom painted perhaps you can save by using stainless, or only use SB below the waterline.

    Merton's in East Longmeadow MA

Depending where you are in NE CT, it might be a just a few minutes drive for you. I think that it is a one man band, but he has always been great over the phone. He concentrates on fiberglass supplies, but has stainless steel and silicone bronze as well as Epifane's, Interlux and System Three products. http://www.mertons.com/

Edit to add: here is the c&p form the website for sb screws

    1"x 10* $ 17.85

Or you could try Goulet Specialties in Winsted.

They are strictly fasteners, and they are the ones that have the demonstration screw-cutting machine set up at the Wooden Boat Show in Mystic. Their fasteners are made in the U.S.A, and you are dealing manufacturer direct. When I lived in CT, they were just a short ride downtown, for me so I used them--their prices were fair. It seemed to me that they had a little soft spot in their corporate heart for the little guy back yard boat builder. http://oemfasteners.net/

Jamestown Distributors have everything, but they are quite expensive for silicon bronze fasteners.
