Well... the game is still a few hours away - but we do have some idea of how the fans are voting - via which schools gear they're buying. Almost looks like a political map: Red states = OSU... but really more geographical, it seems.

VT, NH, & MA for Oregon, but Maine is OSU. How odd.

The real question is what's wrong with New Mexico?

Interesting that the South is in the tank for OSU. Naturally, after Alabama was taken down, SEC homers will want the face-saving effect of seeing OSU win it all. No crime to lose to the ultimate champion, after all. However, an Oregon win pretty much ends the debate about which conference is the best.

Win an Oregon win, the Pac 12 would be 8-2 in the bowl season with a national championship trophy. Kind of hard to argue with that, which is why I think folks in SEC country are suddenly all about Ohio State (at least in fan gear purchases).

props to oregon for suspending them; i'm sure there would have been an entirely different outcome at say FSU for instance. . .

What a crock of horseshyte. I am pretty sure that sales of either Ohio State or Oregon gear wouldn't match what I spent to fill my tank this morning (in Alabama), except for expats who came down here to work, of which I am sure there are very many more people from Ohio than there are from Oregon.

Sky Blue, some of the things you post here are pretty silly.

I know, Mickey. It's just a little 'ol conference football talking. Been following West Coast football out here for more than 40 years! WAA-HOO! This is a big game for us!

Enjoy the game tonight! Who have you got?

I have learned some things about my self since we lost to Ohio State:

First, I am an Alabama athletics fan - football, hoops, baseball, gymnastics, golf, whatever.

Second, I am an SEC fan. A lot of us (Tide fans) are not, since almost every one in this league dislikes us quite a bit and doesn't mind a bit when we lose. But I am not one of those. I know these teams, their coaches and players, and it gives them a little edge for me when the league is playing OOC games.

Third, as far as the rest of the world of sports go, I think I am a Tottenham Hotspur fan moreso than just about anything else right now, even the Saints and Braves. I love to get up on weekend mornings and turn the games on at 0700 hrs. Heck, they are over by 0900 and you have the whole day ahead of you. Very sensible way to do it, imo. I just don't enjoy watching other teams play. I hardly watched any of the NFL this past weekend and don't plan on watching the game tonight. I have to get up too early (and what about a game that starts at 8:45 pm in Ohio? Brutal, dude.

So I wish everyone a great game. I hope it turns out the way you all want it, though I realize that's impossible. I am already getting sleepy.

As far as who I think will win? I think I said it yesterday, Oregon in a fairly close game. I saw where SI had the Ducks winning 45-41, and I can buy that. Ohio State didn't do anything particularly wonderful on defense against Bama, but they have some players so I don't think Oregon will run away with it, but I do think that unless the Buckeye mojo keeps kicking in x2 Oregon will win.

2 critical drops on 3rd down by the Ducks' receivers, both of which were capitalized on for touchdowns by the Bucks. Depth problem at WR?

This offensive performance has been dominant in the first half, both on the ground and through the air. Oregon is 0-6 on 3rd down.

Get that fumble back and score it and this thing is a blowout right now. Danger zone for Oregon right here.

3 and out after this kickoff coming up and Oregon is in real trouble in this game. OTOH, if they get 6, they are back in the game. Critical point right here.

You're not the first to make that claim.

I got tied up with a client whose boat got rammed... and didn't tune in the game until mid-second qtr. I have no sense of how that game is going yet, or why the Ducks are down big. That bit I saw... OSU looks mighty sharp.

Ducks are 0-4 when scoring 10 points or less in the first half of games over the last several seasons...

With that said, Oregon is doing more to stop Oregon than OSU is. 2 critical drops on 3rd down past the line to gain. Stopped on the goal line. 2 penalties on 3 and 1 plays that ultimately resulted in 3rd and longer and then punts.

I look for Oregon to get untracked in the second half with a bit of a shootout ensuing. Still, if the Ducks' D cannot contain Jones or get OSU off the field on 3rd down, it won't matter. This kid Jones is in his third college start. He's easily as good as their other QB's in game management and has a much better arm than both of them.

Elliott has 183 yards and has converted 8 first downs on running plays.

Win or lose, this has been an embarrassing defensive performance by Oregon against the run.

Not sure about his filter, but Oregon can't even slow down the Ohio St running game. Elliot has 200 yards in 3 quarters.

Unusual stats: OSU has 4 turnovers, leads the game by 8, and just got the ball back on a punt.

That's what you get when you can run the football and have held Oregon to 6 points on three trips inside your own 5 yard line.

Which OSU? Yeah, I know you're talking about Ohio St, but both schools can use the OSU tag.

    Cheers,

    Bobby
