So, heading into the Championship games, the teams that should make it, did make it.

    I’m cool with that.

Well, it's down to the best four, and I really do think that these are the best four. I am going to go ahead and say it's Bengals/49ers for the title, with the Bengals winning. If the Bengals can run the ball the way they have been it will be hard to stop them.

Excellent prognostication skills there, old bean. Care to lay money on who will win the Super Bowl? Just pick the other guys. I am going to go ahead and pick the Eagles, for whatever reason. Their offensive and defensive line play is excellent.

You could be right. But I'll be rooting against them. Ever since they brought that disgusting punk Micheal Vick back into the NFL, instead of letting him fade into a well-earned obscurity, they've been #1 on my 'root against no matter what' list. I doubt that'll ever change.

    I suspect... none.

The original scenario could have happened at any school. It's just that Alabama is playing the role, in this episode, of 'bad guy'. They're playing it like it's still a 1950's, company town, $100-handshake, we control the media, Jerry Tarkanian, booster-driven, bs & bluster scenario. Time will tell whether they manage to get their clearly-lusted-for national b'ball championship out of it... and whether it's worth it. I think it's a different time... just not different enough, and they will get away with it. But not without people like me raising a sand. And not without driving more people away from college sports.

Meanwhile... the story is not going away. AP is still covering it today, and still asking the question: How did the guy who got a request to bring the gun continue on down, hand off the weapon, and still have no disciplinary or legal fallout? His lawyer keeps yapping about how Miller 'never handled the gun', and 'had no knowledge that a crime would be committed with it'. Oh, and how he has 'reasonably priced timeshares available for sale now (operators are standing by) for your very own piece of the Golden Gate Bridge!!'

And that other 'bama player? NYT says he was present. University says not. Times says they stand by their reporting. TBD. Oh, and now Miller has a bodyguard.

As I say... 'bama is not alone. Nor is the SEC --

Alabama's Brandon Miller, Ole Miss' Chris Beard symbolize SEC's tarnished image

After the Brandon Miller incident and Chris Beard hiring, we have a very clear picture of what the SEC stands for. Just avoid prosecution, baby.

More details of the shooting in Tuscaloosa are coming out all the time, and I wouldn't be surprised if the charges are reduced against Miles and Davis, and a lot of lawsuits filed by Brandon Miller's representatives once all this is over. The NYT is about to get hit with one suit by the family of Kai Spears, and others will surely be forthcoming.

I am not here to argue with people so I won't post on this subject again. But a 19 year old kid has had his name dragged through the mud for weeks, has had opposing fans chant that he is a killer from the stands, and is being accompanied by a security detail during the NCAA tournament all because of 'reporting' like the one you linked, David. According to the statements made available to the courts and over three hours of CCTV footage that's been studied closely, what's been 'reported' is not what happened that night on the Strip.

Not sure how this topic jumped to the 'football' thread, but I'll jump back to the Alabama Basketball thread to reply...
