as for herbert, well, ask yourself, if a top veteran like phillip rivers could be made to look like that last season, what chance does the new guy have? hope i am wrong for his sake. but i predict thirty+ interceptions.

loving how carson is handling the outlet passes. russell takes two sacks on the first drive but they score anyway.

a little weird with zero fans in the stands, but not that different than watching a telecast from san diego.

Anyone else watch the big Brady/Brees showdown? Brady actually looked better EXCEPT for the two picks. I think that Arians will have the Bucs playing well soon.

Lions blow a three possession lead in the fourth quarter. Lose the game on a dropped pass that was in the RB’s hands (both of them) as he was crossing the line.

Yes, it was. That was the kid from Georgia, right?

Trent Richardson, 2010 Iron Bowl, the one Auburn people refer to as the ‘Camback’. Bama jumps out to a nice lead and is going in for what would be a clinching touchdown. Greg McElroy tosses a pass to a wide open Trent Richardson, who drops the ball at the goal line, and Auburn goes on to a 27-24 win. Some of us will never forget that one single play from that game. Matt Stafford may not ever forget that pass yesterday.

I was off visiting the grandbabies. Didn't know Herbert was gonna play. Just watched some highlights, and wish I'd seen the whole thing. Looks like he had himself a game... and they came mighty close.

i only saw the second half.

i think his teammates like him.

a ten minute drive in the 4th quarter against the best team in the league is significant.

It looked like an impressive intro to pro play. Hopefully he learned not to throw into triple coverage against the best team in the league. But he did thread a couple of tight ones in at other times. He looked pretty comfortable.

Sorry I missed the Chargers game, but I caught most of the Seattle game. Great game... AND the Seahawks won.

Herbert looked excellent in his debut. 300+ yards - yes one interception, but he's brand spankin' new. I think he'll do well.

Now conspiracy theory: the coach got the doc to puncture Tyrod Taylor's lung with that injection... so he could go ahead and start the clearly superior Justin Herbert. Without being the 'bad guy'.

Herbert made one very, very poor decision and against most teams played well enough to win. The story of the game was the Chargers defense, which played Mahomes as well as anyone has since he has been what he has become. The Chargers defense looks pretty darn good.

Pac12 decides to play football before 2021. Talking about a November start.

I'm glad I'm not the one making that decision - stuck between public health concerns... and money issues.

Not this year, anyway. Not much. <sigh>

Normally, though, it's amazing how much football teams bring in, innit. From memory - last time I looked, UO football brought in something $75m. Lower tier schools in the PAC as little as $30m. Ducks basketball: more like $10m.

Clearly... they're trying to salvage as much of that income as possible. I hope they don't regret it. Can you imagine a scenarios where a mob of college football players get infected, and the ones with no likelihood of making it to the NFL file a class action lawsuit? I can. Their scholarship deals may preclude such a complaint, but I bet they could get it heard on the basis of 'prior restraint'.

Here's one I liked, just a good solid player. Smart and patient, waiting for the play to develop, shifty, with vision and power.
