    Default Books on Fitting out?

    Hello,

I'm starting a project which will include building a "tug" style cabin, teak cap rail, benches etc. Anyone have any suggestions on books that might be helpful with these kind of projects. Thanks FM

That sounds like a fun project. Back in the spring I was trying to save a Bristol Channel Cutter from annihilation, and did quite a bit of reading for the proposal. None of them were specific to the tugboat style, though. I especially like John Guzzwell's Modern Wooden Yacht Construction, and Hankinson's Fiberglass Boatbuilding for Amateurs. Parker's New Cold-Molded Boatbuilding has tons of useful advice also. There's always Howard Chapelle's stuff and Ferenc Mate'.
The BCC probably went to the local fire company for practice putting out boat fires. With the interior completely gone and no useful engine, we could not get the numbers to add up. It was not a Sam L. Morse BCC, so the resale just was not there. Amazingly well built though. Reminded me of being in a caboose when I was very young. Pity.
