Re: Late 19th century schooner plans
My Late wife's grandfather was a Russian sea captain out of Mikolaev Ukraine. I'll write her father and ask for some photos if possible of the vessel that he commanded.
In the mean time...may I suggest that you research the Khersones, a three masted barque build 1988 at the Stocznia Gdanska in Gdansk (Danzig), Poland. Now a Training ship for the education of young officers and for tourist passengers. It was built to a Russian set of standards/drawings. She is presently on the hook in Kerch, Ukraine, on the sea of Azov. My wife's cousin lives there and is a piano/music teacher.
The three-masted full-rigged ship 'Khersones ran' on 20 March 1989 as the fourth in a series of six sister ships at the Lenin shipyard in Gdansk from stack. Designer is the Pole Zygmunt Choreen. By him, inter alia the rigging of the Alexander von Humboldt.
The 'Khersones served' in the Soviet Union, the training of the young sailor for the merchant and fishing fleets. After the collapse of the USSR of the Windjammer the Kerch Marine Technological Institute became parties by the Crimea. During the Travemünde Week 1992, the captain sat at the rear of the new National Independent Ukraine. Today she is traveling with guests and training.
Events in May 2006: The Chersonese was in the whirlpool of Orange Revolution advised: The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture, which is the Kerch Marine Technological Institute has assumed, in 2006 adopted a ban on departure for the Chersonese. The ship is also in its home port of Kerch on the chain.
Already booked trips had already been cancel. Meanwhile, solidarity actions are also underway with the aim of getting the ship back on track Zum Großbild klicken! The highlighted text is using a translator.
