    Default The Oughtraid at Uitgeest

Have you guys seen Kathy Mansfield's pictures of the Oughtraid on the Uitgeestermeer?

    From her site:

Iain Oughtred's small boat designs for amateur and professional builders are known world over, and nearly 30 of his boats gathered for a weekend in Uitgeest, Holland, organized by Bert van Baar. Iain didn't make it because of volcanic ash cancelling his flight sadly, but it was a glorious weekend, to be repeated early May 2011.

This looks like a really fun event, sorry that Iain couldn't make it.

Bump for the Oughtred fans, I know some of you are out there. No favorite pictures?

    Interesting helm.

Makes crew indispensable for sitting out.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

This one seems to be oversheeted. Nice curve in the tiller

    .
Rick's Auk, which I always thought would make a simply beautiful tender.

I believe he's fitted her out for sailing too, but I regret I don't have any photos.

Boy, I sure wish I could bring Rowan to an outing like that some day. Does anyone have any rough idea how much it would cost to ship her over in a shipping container?

This one is interesting. . .more of a cat-ketch rig in proportion than Iain's more typical yawls. Pretty sure I don't like it, but it is interesting.

This one looks like a real gem. A Whilly Tern, maybe?

Thanks for starting a thread about an event that took place in my back yard

These are my sails and they are not oversheeted. The Punterweekend in Belterwiede is the successor of the Oughtraid, for there are many oarandsail boats from other designers. My lovely lugger 'Lucia' for instance. Frank
