Does anyone know anything about Pete Cullers Newport Point Boat? 20ft,cat rigged but with a narrower stern than a cat boat.I have always liked the design. Here we dont know much about cat boats but the one I have been in seemed to have undesirable characteristics brought about by the wide stern.I would be interested to hear if anyone has seen or sailed the Point Boat.

Jeremy ; I guess not .It's a boat I'm interested in too. I assume you have access to "Pete Culler's Boats " by John Burke .In addition to being described in the text ,there are some leads in Appendix B that might turn up the boat .Bill

    Jeremy,
I may be off target but here are a few references to "Point Boats" Not neccessarily Culler's design but I think somewhat along the lines of what you're thinking about.

    found this too...http://www.woodenboat-ubb.com/ubb/ul...c;f=2;t=000951
    see plan for Peggotty...http://www.by-the-sea.com/bakerboatw...f/catboats.pdf

There's a picture of a reconstruction of Peggotty on page 10 in the newer Cape Cod Catboats book complete with live-well. I can't scan but maybe someone else can find it. Basically a keel catboat
about 18-20 feet used mostly for fishing and lobstering in the Newport, Rhode Island area.

    Good luck!

Bill,I have the book,it looks like a good boat for the "older" man.A bit of fishing and a sail home, with "nap" potential if needed! small diesel etc.It would be interesting to know how it sails.
