Just checking the date: July 21.
Might as well give it a bump.

Switters— is this still on for July 21, at Douglas Reservoir near Fort Collins?
No one's posted any updates, etc. for some time. We had to evacuate for a fire up here, and you guys had a flood.
I am still going to be there, if anything just to start pre-planning for next year. I really dropped the ball on this one, my apologies for the terrible follow through.
The fire ban is still on, but camping stoves are okay, so I still plan on bringing burgers to grill, and a few beers.
Camping still available at the farm in LaPorte.
I have not made it out there with a boat that needs registration, a habitat stamp will be required (5 bucks) if there are testing that day. The last time I went there was no ranger on site that afternoon and I never made it back.
I'll be there at 10:AM Yellow Xterra, no idea what boat I'm taking because cant row, cant paddle a canoe and cant put my sailboat back together for another two weeks. I will probably be in an unpainted pirogue with a kayak paddle.
kayaks and canoes do not need any registration, sailboats will but your state registration is good, I know this makes it a huge pain for the wyoming guys unless you already have a green seal. Hand launched boats that do not come off the ramp do not need to be inspected.
In fact, if you can saw a penciled line, apply glue, drive nails, and bring a modest measure of patience to the task, you can build and launch a smart and able craft in as few as 40 work hours. You need not be driven by lack of tools, materials, skills, or time to abandon in frustration a project you conceived in a spirit of pleasurable anticipation.

Habitat stamps can be bought at any sporting goods store, if you are coming to Fort Collins let me know from what direction and I'll steer you to the easiest place. I know it is a hassle but cheaper than the 7 dollar one day pass at Boyd.
Chip, if you make it down your best bet will be Vern's in LaPorte, and then up to the lake.

Local weather forecast for Saturday:
Mostly sunny, with a high near 96. Calm wind becoming north northwest 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
Habitat stamp for Wyoming folks:
Google maps shows it in La Porte, not out on 287. Guess I'll find it one way or other.
VERN'S PLACE 4120 N. U.S. HWY 287 LAPORTE,CO 80535 (970)482-5511
Or Wal-Mart stores in Ft. Collins.

Next year, I will either be better at this or someone who knows how to plan a social event will help me out.

Bike to the Beach to drink Beer with the Blonde.
