    Default Gas can nozzles

I've got one of those nozzles with my portable gas can that supposedly prevents overfilling.

Does this thing work? and how?

Is it supposed to have any moving parts?

I have two different gas cans with different designs. They both spill more gas than my old inefficient one. I don't like the new ones much at all.

I have no idea why they call them "safety cans" when they are more cumbersome and spill a lot more than the regular red plastic jugs.

Absolutely a pain to use. As for the thumbs, you're supposed to place the sliding valve/sleeve on the spout against the rim of the deck fill and push down with the weight of the can to allow the fuel to flow. Works better in theory than in practice, IMO.

Use one cherry bomb anti personnel grenade, wrap 3-4 rubber bands around the spoon, pull pin, drop in gas can, fill gas can....dunno leave it around 'cause in 3-4 hours it won't be there.

Ebay has a bunch of traditonal blitz style caps and nozzles. Get them while you still can.

but the government is just making you life better............ NOT!.. the worst part is maybe it stops the can from spilling when you not using it and since the cap can't come off and get lost . but to me it is sure not worth it for the time your actually filling something and the blacted thingds cost a good deal more than the old ones.

right now the two cans in my truck have sports drinks for caps one fell over the other day and it almost didn't leak

ps edit my uncle in law simply keeps the 6 cans he used for his lawn business in a plastic foot locker they don't tip over dirt doesn't get in the regular gas cans that doin't have the cap and even it they did the foot locker contains spills

About a year ago, BoatUS had an article in their magazine testing four or five of the "anti-spill" fillers. Not a one of them didn't spill, some of them worse than others. Just another cramp being forced up our ears.

Have you tried the new vent free plastic gas cans? Let me tell you they SUCK! I made the mistake of buying two. Ended up painting both blue and using them with a siphon and kerosene for garage/shop heating.

With the old type you could fill a fuel tank with them without spilling a drop, if you put a little thought into it. With the new style, in spite of my best efforts, I always manage to spill at least a few drops. I have several of the old style and two of the new style. If somebody wants to borrow one I always give them one of the new ones, half hoping it won't be returned. I guard the old ones like they were gold.

Thanks. Kind of what I thought.

Reminds me of the playtex baby bottles. Sold to the parents. Didn't make a damn bit of difference to the infant.

Ebay links go stale pretty quick.

Just search for "blitz spout" or "blitz cap", or "nato gas".
