i'm not certain that they will move the company out of baltimore.
i'm more concerned about stanley changing the name of black and decker or dewalt to stanley. i doubt they would do that but you never know.
I hope they improve the quality of B&D tools.
You guys realize this includes Delta/Rockwell/Porter-Cable too, right?

As long as it isn't Irwin/Rubbermaid,which bought and killed Record/Marples and Vise Grip.

Do what you want to.You will anyway.
Black & Decker bought 'em from Pentair in '04. From their corporate site:2004 - Black & Decker ® announce the purchase of the Tools Group from Pentair, Inc. So, I reckon that this will not effect any U.S. tool makers, seein as these two global growth giants don't employ any.
Yeah, damn shame. I drive past the old B&D Hampstead plant often. A smidgen is still made in the US, some in Mexico, and the rest is Chinese crap. I contacted the company 25 or so years ago when I was working on a boat built for Alonzo Decker. They were decent then.
I rebuilt a Model A Ford a while back, and when I was reboring the door hinges for oversized pins, damned if there wasn’t a little Stanley sweetheart stamped on the back of each of them! 1930 …
I’m pretty sure the last pair of vise-grips I bought said Stanley on them.

B and D earned a bad rep trying to cut costs to attract the home owner market and when they couldn't get over the bad rep they bought Dewalt and namaged not to destroy that label stanley I belive has a fairly good rep so hopefully they won't hurt any reps of the new companys they now own
... & DeWalt were the ones who bought Elu.

Harbor Freight being your best router is pretty amazing, Captain B!
I stop in our local HF occasionally, and sometimes pick up non-critical stuff, like a roll-around tool tray, or stuff that others have reported good service with and I don't want to wrap up a lit of money, like a 1" all-metal rotary electric pump. Nonetheless, I like quality tools for day-in day-out, year-after year work and am exceedingly pleased with my Porter Cable "sawsall" and my Milwaukee 1/2" reversable drill (not cordless, no hand check).
Got a small Makitas cordless drill, a Rayobi router, a Bosch masonry drill, a Makita side cutter/grinder, and an old Craftsman 8" table saw with an extension table under which I mount my router, and an old Delta floor mount drill press.
My table saw has given me better service for forty years that it should have been expected to. Nonetheless, one of these days I'd like to pick up a quality 10 " table saw, used. I'd settle for another Craftsman if it had an iron table.

brad9798: I see I've miss-credited one of your posts above to Captain-B!
You've probably given Harbor Freight more creds here than a weekend's worth of Sunday supplement ads.
On the other hand, we had a B&D factory service center near the shop. We'd buy a couple reconditioned tools, as I recall drill motors, hand power planers, sanders and the like, use the hell out of them, then take their burnt up carcasses back to exchange. They never questioned us.
i use my b & d , 30 year old sander
& my b & d 40 year old gutbuster heavy drill
both 110 volt

I'm going to bankrupt Harbor Freight soon. I just got another coupon for yet another free flashlight. This will make my third.
This may explain why on my latest tool-shopping expedition Porter Cable seemed like a new brand--odd stuff they never built before, a noticeable loss of quality, etc. Lowes seems to have dropped Ryobi as well. Dunno who makes what anymore.
I think the closed the B & D plant near Easton Md.....or on the way to St. Michaels.
