Just so to let you woodies know that not only wooden boats require maintannence, the pictures of replacing my "potdeksel" (the steel tube on top of the toerail) on my 28 ft steel boat, and repainting, and finding a couple of holes, and....
For the hard-knuckle woodies there are also 2 pics in serie 2 of a dutch "praam". When I asked the yard owner how old it was he just said "very bloody old".

Is that outboard on the praam in the water? or is it just sitting in the boat?

The praam actually has an outboard. In the old days, the wife would handle the oars in the front seat, but when feminism kicked in, man had to resort to outboards. I like the fact that these boats are still used and appreciated on a daily basis, rather then being stored in a museum.
Dave: If you'e refering to "that stuff" as my boat, well then @&^%& you. If you're referring to the paint falling of my boat, well there's a grid in the floor, which seperates the paint and stuff from the water, and makes sure only clean water returns to the canal.

I was scared sh*tless when they hauled me. Believe me, it's even scarier when standing on top.
The yard assured me that only once in 40 years a boat had fallen of. The next day a motorboat fell over... (luckily no damage)
But I do like these things better than a crane. They just don't seem to be built for longkeelers.

Ah well that barge is one of the disadvantages of our liberal soft-drug policy. As far as I gathered, the owner is a bit of a weedhead, and let it sink. This barge is probably a "tjalk", built somewhere between 1890 and 1910. Later it was converted to a houseboat. Don't worry, we have several hundreds of those over here. In the end most of them are saved. If they sink, they just don't rust as fast. [img]smile.gif[/img]
