We here have proper gallons - each of which would weigh in at ten pounds - so you can only get six and a quarter of them into a cubic foot (if you squeeze real hard).

there are 231 cu inches in a gallon, to find the volume of a tank
mult length x width x height divide by 231 and viola.. gallons.
of course saddle tanks that match the curve of a hull are trickier
due to the arc.
