I was just going through my 2005 pictures and trip reports, remenising(sp?) about the year and I found some pics from our vacation in Maine. Specifically, I found pictures and a video of the day we rented a Boothbay Harbor One Design from Finest Kind Wooden Boats and sailed it around the Harbor. I thought some might enjoy them.

This little beauty handled like a dream. I swear it was like she was sailing herself... made me look like I knew what I was doing

No seats, but roomy and comfortable for a family of 4.

Here's the video. A nice Schooner and Friendship Sloop in the background. My daughters "loved this boat" ( VIDEO )

I honestly don't know much about the BBHOD, except what I've read from the Finest Kind site (which no longer appears to be up) and HERE

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Do you see the yellow house in the top right of your top photo? A double murder took place there the summer before last.

So are you moonlighting for the Boothbay Harbor chamber of commerce or are you trying to set a personal record for thread-drift?

PS: I remember hearing about that, and I think Ed H mentioned that Barbara was lauded for her heroic and exemplary response.

Thread drift is my specialty, but anyone who is interested in the BBHOD will easily gravitate here because of the topic title. My son was tennis teacher to one of the little girls whose mother and grandmother were killed and he drove her home the evening before the tragedy.

About the BBHOD: The design was the result of a number of years' experimentation, and at least one of the earlier versions is pictured in LFH's "Common Sense of Yacht Design". The Hodgdon 21 kind of superceded the BBHOD, and is an even nicer boat IMO, but the few ones still around are deeply loved by their owners.

    Billy Bones,

Rick was very nice... especially after I returned his boat undamaged (I think he was a little nervous about sending me out with young kids, having no knowledge of my sailing skills). He had a few restoration projects going on, including (if I understood correctly) BBHOD #1.
