What size of a "box" do I need for a 2.5 hp outboard.

I am building a watertight section at the aft of my 14' Glen L. I want to put a 2.5 hp suzi / honda / other in there.

1) Does the steering arm fold down parallel to the shaft, or does it stick out perpendicular when you store the motor ?

2) Can anyone who stores their small outboard in such a compartment let me know how big it needs to be ?
