I thought that little bit hanging off the bottom of Australia was New Zealand ;-)

Probably. I usually tow the boat to Goolwa in march so that get's priority but by march who knows what water there will be there. So Hobart is likely this time.

I'll be there (only a 20 minute drive). Over 400 boats and 60,000+ people - should be fantastic. Last one was a blast.

You gonna tow it behind the Granny? Or would you like something bigger?

I'll be there, on my boat again I hope. Good idea with the Yellowtail, I think you should pursue that idea.

Airfare is $1700 per person from Seattle, and I'd still have to get there from here ($$$). We'll see how the winter work schedule turns out.

If you do make it to Hobart, be sure to look up Frank Brown who will be aboard S/V MAY QUEEN (an 1867 ketch), demonstrating knots and knotting techniques. He's quite the card and makes an entire menagerie of little knotted animals and figures that will tickle your funnybones. "Slipstick" Madeline may also be there, a lady who is really an expert at knots and lines... together, they're even more fun.

I have already booked Airfares for the Management and myself.
Havn't done anything about accommodation yet, but I want to see some bits of Tassie I havn't seen as well.
It would be great to have an EBS if several of us were there on the same day.

Too right it would! I'll talk to SWMBO tonight and see if she'd like to go too. We could take a week or two around the Island while we're about it. Brian, if you come that far stay about for a while, it's probably the best time of the year. It's been dry, let's hope the fires will not be about. The forecast for the summer is not so good in Victoria.

Stay away from Salamanca Place if you want to get some sleep.
Stayed there at the last show, the locals were still screaming abuse at each other at 3am.

At the last show we stayed in a little hotel 20 minutes walk up the hill behind the city.
Fantastic view and a few little eateries nearby.
I stayed in Salamanca place a few years ago during Targa Tasmania. OK then, but perhaps I was too buggered to hear noise makers.
This time we may stay a bit outside Hobart and just come up for the day.

Where do you sail? Because I'm staying away from whereever you are , as you are obviously confused by the various points of the compass! If you are still confused, New Zealand consists of three major Island, the North, South and West Islands. As convicts inhabit the West Island, we don't bother claiming it

This is going to be a good turn-out. this year we have an apartment over at Bellerieve, just a short ferry ride across the bay each day, as well as a bit of sight seeing by car after.

Be nice to get together some time and meet some folks.

Wondered if someone was going to raise the flag. I am going. Booked the tickets today. I am on the hunt for Minena and will be there for about five days and it would be a pleasure and a hoot to have a EBS with some of you. Minena was my grandad's, built in 1924 and sold out of the family in 1947 when he passed. Never laid eyes on it till Craig the current owner sent me some pix. Cant wait to touch her.

    How can we make contact?

I'll be going!! Hope the missus can come too! Gotta book some accomodation etc... Love to take The Mighty Pippin down, but 1). I don't think she'll be finished in time and 2). I won't have anything to tow her on/roof racks to car top her.

EBS? Is the Pope a Catholic? Does the Sun rise in the morning? Does a bear sh!t in the woods???

Can't decide, Hobart or Goolwa, which I thoroughly enjoy but the weather can be a bit touchy and the water low in present circumstances. Makemy decision when I come back.
    Merry Xmas all.

Ion and Duncan (and Jeff), keep an eye out for a boat called Ronita and you'll find me, most likely with my elbow already bending.

Oh dear,I'm sorry to have given offense- I can see that looks a bit odd now. I just glanced at the bottom of the thread, set out to answer Ion's question, noticed that Duncan was coming, then added Jeff to try to swing him this way instead of Goolwa. By the time I posted, Shane had cross posted so I posted again. Of course I would like to see everyone from here who is coming. How embarrassing. Look for a little guy with a red face.

Mate, no offense, just sounded strange.

I don't know what day or days we will be there yet, but I'll note the name of the boat and look out for it.

Not all that easy to find if there as many boats as last time.

The very same, although the Dr is stretching it a bit ... but I do appreciate the compliment! Hope we do see y'all in Hobart (wouldn't dare to step aboard Ronita of course!) Rick
