    Default Sailing my Ilur

I thought I'd post a few pictures here of the second sail of our newly launched Ilur sail and oar dinghy.

They are particularly good photos because my friend Peter is an excellent pro photographer. Thanks Peter!

My son is at the helm here on a nice light breeze day. We were three in the boat, and even with a reef in, she moved right along and tacks beautifully.

I'm looking forward to getting to know this boat.

Nice! You might want to let the designer know about the very best pics you get of this lovely craft.

    Very nice.
I've been sailing in John Hartmann's Ilur and know it as a very robust and seaworthy boat for only 14' in length.

The photographer is good, but it is the boat that makes the shot. Well done.

A very brief video of Nimbus sailing, if I can do the voodoo that gets videos up here. Next spring, we'll shoot some longer footage, hopefully on a voyage down Narragansett Bay.

Mike, hope you don't mind -- I played with your photo a bit to better show off those sweet planking lines

That boat is a delight Mike! What a dream ship she is! The fact that you three are out on a family outing makes it even better!
You have both a beautiful boat and a great family! What more can a man ask for?

I do like the cat ketch/lug combinaton. I converted my Coquina to the same rig. I am somewhat self conscious about altering a Herreshoff design but I spent so much time rigging and derigging I decided I was not going to enjoy the boat unless I made some changes. Anyway, I like everything about your boat.
