Default Surf pictures at Peggy's Cove

The passing of Hurricane Bill along our coast two weeks ago brought some pretty impressive surf, of which I posted a couple of pictures taken outside of Lunenburg Bay. Today, a friend sent me a few pictures taken the same day at Peggy's Cove, about fifty miles farther north along the coast from where I was. Note that the light in the lighthouse is 20.5 metres (67 feet) above the lighthouse base and approximately 27.5 m (90 ft) above mean high tide:

    Pretty impressive, methinks.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Good day to stay in port & mend twine. - Might not be to bad out in deep water, but getting there wouldn't be fun. -- That is impressive. Thanks mike!

What's that in the second picture mmd? I see a rooftop. Did someones building get swept out, or did someone build underwater? Or, did the person who sent you the pictures not bother to tell you? (Please check one.)

Goodbasil, someone's building got swept off its foundations and floated about in the cove. I don't know what the building was - either a fish store (shed to keep fishing gear in) or a tourist trinket shop. Either way, it ain't one no more...

We had been camping at an absolutely idyllic spot on the north shore of Cape Breton Island when we learned that Bill was about 2 days out, so we reluctantly packed up and scurried home.

Except for a few large waves locally, Bill was a non-event down here. Good to see that we made a wise choice after all.

That's easy for you to say. We were sailing back to Portland from Boothbay Harbor. When it got really bad we bailed out and ducked in to Harpwell Harbor. We had a nice quiet night in there, but out between Seguin and Halfway rock it was wild.

Hey, if it was always fair winds and following seas, everyone would be out there doing it.

That's quite impressive. It seems a wonder that the lighthouse is still standing.

    Default Who is the Photographer??

Hello, I'm wondering if someone can help me out. I received an e-mail last year of the pictures above as well as others of the same great quality. I plan to have some of them blown up and framed but the pictures i have are to small. I would love to find out who the photographer is and maybe get large photos. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. Thanks Rick

Crazy! I was at Peggys cove once a long time ago, beautiful country but it was sunny and blue skies then, that looks just nuts. Hope the damage around wasnt too bad.
