PCford in the How much for a burger thread.

    >>>>You are correct to reflect a dubious opinion on these guys' being able to "split it with a nice girl." Something makes me believe that a lot of the guys here at the Wooden Boat Forum are not particularly lucky with the ladies. Maybe it's the Greek fisherman's cap that scares them off.<<<<

You don't have to be lucky with a lot of ladies, just a few of them and then, eventually, The Only One That Matters.

I refer to the time-before-Allison as "My Period Of Overwhelming Dismay."

Although she doesn't prefer it when I introduce her at parties as "my first wife."

    Bobbys: the birther thread

    >>>>>>>>>Good catch however i ran some numbers of my own just to compare.

There were 35 million people that did not think Obama was born in the US.

There were 30 Million dems that thought John MaCain was born outside the US.

Thats a difference of 5 million.

But 3 million dems think Cheny is the Devil so scratch them but add One million Reps that think Clinton was a Commie but subtract one million Dems that think Halliburton is tied in with big oil and Bush but subtract 200000 dems that believe Barbra Striestand is still a good singer but add 100000 people that think Jake and Elwood are really on a mission from God but add 4500 people that think Bush ordered God to destroy Black people in New Orleans, Subtract 400000 that think George Cloony impregnated Bristol Palin for spite butadd 2000 people that think the girls on the view are "hot" but subtract 1500 people in Idaho that we dont know what they believe but add one person that thinks Rosy O"donald is funny, Subtract 6500 people that believe Obama is going to buy gas for there cars but add 4000 people that dont like sean penn but add 567 that fry twinkies, subtract 2675 people that want Rush Dead but add 2400 that would steal his drugs if they could, Subtract The cast of "cats" but add the Cast of "growing pains" and you wind up with 34 people that are "birthers".

Ok i made up some of these numbers.<<<<<<<<<<

    Beach Party.
I have a date in about an hour and a half with a hotty I met on the beach, but I smell like a gasoline tanker- been helping a friend siphon gas out of his old ride today before he junks it. What can I do to get rid of the smell- its all over my hands arms and legs! I tried to wash it off but it still stinks!

I don't think you know that this thread is "Bilge Best Quotes" and that was Bobbys quote on the Birther thread, not mine, though I wish I was as creative as Bobbys.

has nothing to do with making the business better, usually it has to do with internal politics: good folks who are ethical and good at their jobs are often terrible at internal politics....it's the useless ****s who spend all their time scheming that get ahead in most co.s.

No they are not " nuts", they are tired of liberal apologists for America like you and Barack Obama, and so am I.
    America is exceptional.
We are the beacon of freedom in the world. We have freed billions of people who lived in oppresion in the world. Fought two world wars which enslaved Europe.
The same freedom that let's you snipe and bitch about the terrible USA while at the same time demanding your rights granted to you under the Constitution while you slam your country and look for every thing wrong with it instead of seeing what is exceptional about it does'nt surprise me.
Socialism and liberalism are failed policies. The Soviet Union wasn't destroyed by armies, it was destroyed by captialism and freedom.
I'd love to see what would have happened to you and your liberal opinions in the old USSR.
Do you think for one minute that you would be able to spout your drivel and hatred for their country under their system?
    The answer is no.
    America is exceptional.
We have the abilitiy to do anything with our lives, fail and try again. We are limited only by our intelligence and our drive to do anything, be anything, go anywhere we want or desire to.
We have a Constitution that guards our rights. We are the only super power left in the world.
We are FREE to do what WE want with our lives. A nation of equal opportunity.
Europe has been around for 800 years or more and yet in a mere 200 plus years we are the beacon of freedom and the only super power in the world.
    Not Europe.
And THAT is what you hate. America is unfair, we had slavery, we killed the indians blah blah blah. Have we commited injustices to Native Americans, blacks etc? Of course we have. We have also struggled to correct it, and paid a price for it.
We fought a civil war over it.
We have a black POTUS and that still isn't enough for you?
NOT the greatest country on the face of the Earth?

    BULL****.

Forgive me Father for I have sinned.

    I attended Catholic grade school.
    I was an altar boy.
    I attended Catholic high school.
    My sister was a nun.
    I attended Catholic university.
    I considered becoming a priest.

I am in recovery. It's a twelve-step program. Every day I do my best to put my past behind me. Two steps forward, one step back. Slow progress.

Hello, my name is Terry, and I'm a Catholic.

Just cause you drink and write does NOT make you Hemingway.
    Joe ( CSOH)

Then some will just switch seats on the Titanic and die anyways.
    Chris Coose

Wooden boats and shingles. Similar but different. Recurring and often painful.
    Peter Malcolm Jardine

    and my personal favorite

Ian, on cutting a canoe into bits and then putting it back together.

There's a certain defiant charm in a boat that really defies all common sense and then performs below expectations.

not a bilge thread but a great line.
In fact, if you can saw a penciled line, apply glue, drive nails, and bring a modest measure of patience to the task, you can build and launch a smart and able craft in as few as 40 work hours. You need not be driven by lack of tools, materials, skills, or time to abandon in frustration a project you conceived in a spirit of pleasurable anticipation.

There are a lot of folk here, guilty of memorable quotes, and not to slight them - but if we were to have a POLL, I suspect this one of bobbys would be in the running for 'best of show'. And I hate that.

I mean - really - what do we know about this guy?

    Two of my own quotes:

"My personal life is far too rewarding to piss it away on a career"

"there is nothing like the feeling of utter security on a tumultuous sea..."
